Company

From musical theatre's most renowned composer, Stephen Sondheim, and the winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Lyrics, and Best Book, Company follows the story of confirmed bachelor, Robert. On the night of his 35th birthday, he contemplates his unmarried state and over the course of a series of dinners, drinks, and even a wedding, "those good and crazy people [his] married friends" explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse. The habitually single Robert is forced to question his adamant retention of bachelorhood during a hilarious array of interactions.

Audition Procedure:

Please plan to bring a 32-bar cut of a musical theater song that showcases your singing and personality to perform. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key. No acapella, please.

Audition Workshop will be available to those auditioning on Wednesday, August 5th at 7:00 PM in the Hilt Building Ballroom (425 W Western). This FREE workshop is a great opportunity to meet the production team, get helpful tips and tricks, and the opportunity to hear from the directing team about what they are looking for when casting. Roles/Vocal Ranges:

Robert/Bobby (Baritone: G2-G4), a 35-year-old male, does have some intimate scenes

Sarah (Mezzo/Alto: A3-A5), 30 - 40-year-old female definite physicality in this role as she spars with her husband, doing karate

Harry (Baritone: A2-A4), 30 - 40-year-old male, married to Sarah, also has physicality during the karate scene

Susan (Soprano: A3-A5) 30 - 40, married to Peter, then divorced, but still living together and raising kids. Maybe a southern belle type of character

Peter (Baritone: B2-A4), 30 - 45 year old male, married to Susan. Maybe considering who he really is deep inside. There is a homosexual undertone in 1 scene.

Jenny (Soprano: A3-A5), 30 - 40 year old female, married to David. A scene they share does have light drug use.

David (Baritone: B2-A4), 30 - 40-year-old male, married to Jenny. Also, light drug use in 1 scene.

Amy (Mezzo/Alto: G3-A5), 25 - 35 engaged to Paul and struggles with anxiety

Paul (Tenor: B2-A4), 30-40 male, engaged to Amy. Very supportive partner

Joanne (Alto: G3-B5), undisclosed age, over 50 female. Saucy and smart worldly woman.

Larry (Baritone: B2-A4), undisclosed age, over 50 male. Wealthy and a bit of a playboy.

Marta (Mezzo: A3-A5), 25 - 30 year old female. Dating Robert. Truly believes New York is the center of the world

Kathy (Soprano: A3-A5), 25 - 35 year old female. “The one that got away”.

April (Mezzo: A3-A5) 25 - 30 year old female. Flight attendant and self-admittedly not very smart.

*Ages for this show are slightly fluid, but have to fit in with Robert being 35.
